Dear Skye Families,
We hope all of our Skye mums enjoyed a wonderful Mother's Day on Sunday! It was a truly special afternoon on Thursday when we welcomed over 200 mums and grandmothers to the gym for a Devonshire tea, with scones, jam and cream, and a chance to relax and enjoy some well-earned adult conversation. It was lovely to see so many familiar faces and to celebrate the incredible women in our school community. From there, families moved into classrooms to share in some activities together, striking a wonderful balance between celebration and connection.
A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful PTF for organising such a memorable event. Your efforts are greatly appreciated by the whole community.

We are looking forward to welcoming families to our Maths Open Afternoon next Tuesday as part of Education Week. Join us in the Library at 2:30pm for a parent information session where we will share our approach to teaching Mathematics at Skye and what this looks like across the school.
From there, families are invited to team up with their children to explore our six Maths Habitats, set up around the school. Each habitat offers a hands-on look at the different curriculum strands and the ways students explore and learn these concepts. Students will be issued with a passport to get stamped at each exhibit, and all completed passports will go into a prize draw to win a fun Maths pack!
We hope to see as many families as possible there.

We are excited to share that Skye Primary School will be undertaking our four-year School Review, beginning Monday 25th May, with the second day scheduled for Thursday 4th June.
The review will be action-packed across both days, beginning with a reflection on our previous four-year Strategic Plan before moving into a thorough examination of our current practices. This will include classroom and PLC observations, as well as focus group discussions with staff, students, and parents. The findings from this process will directly inform the development of our next Strategic Plan, shaping the direction of our school for the years ahead. We look forward to sharing more about this process with the community as it unfolds.
Earlier this term, Kim and I wrapped up our annual Student Voice Forums with all Year 4 to 6 students. These forums gave us the opportunity to share back class-specific wellbeing data gathered during Term 1, sparking some really valuable conversations with students. The discussions provided us with a deeper understanding of where we are doing well and where there are opportunities to grow.
It was wonderful to see the level of maturity and thoughtfulness each group brought to the process, engaging seriously with the data and contributing genuinely useful perspectives.
We have also kicked off the annual Student Attitudes to School (AtoSS) survey this week. The survey explores how students feel about their school experience, learning, friendships, health and wellbeing, and life more broadly. The insights we gain will play an important role in shaping and strengthening the programs and support we offer across the school.
A reminder that Friday 29th May is a Curriculum Day and students will not be required to attend school. Staff will be focused on assessment, moderation the analysis of student achievement data collected throughout Semester 1 to form accurate teacher judgments.
Warm regards,
Tim
