Term 2 Reminders

Update your child's medical information

Please ensure the college is informed of any updates to your child’s medical information, including allergies or required medications.

Please contact the office at office@beaumarissc.vic.edu.au or 8569 9200 if there have been any changes.

Cycling safety

We ask families to please reinforce safe riding practices with their children, including wearing helmets, following road rules, staying alert and using safer routes to and from the college.

We appreciate your support in helping keep our students and the wider community safe.

Accident insurance

Parents/carers are reminded that:

  • Parents/carers of students who do not have student accident insurance, are responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment for injured students, including the cost of ambulance attendance or transport, as well as any other transport costs; and

  • Parents/carers can purchase insurance policies from commercial insurers.

The importance of regular school attendance

At Beaumaris Secondary College, we prioritise regular school attendance. We will work with families to ensure students are in class with their peers and teachers and enjoying all the benefits that brings.

Attending school every day means experiencing what counts – the learning, friendship, fun and opportunities that can shape your child’s future.

We understand that there are times when your child will need to miss school but to ensure minimal disruption to their education, please consider scheduling family holidays or medical/dental appointments outside of school time. If your child is well enough to attend but is worried about friendships, schoolwork or exams, please encourage them to come to school. Avoiding school can make these feelings worse and can create a negative pattern of behaviour.

If your child is having difficulty attending school, talk to their GOAL Mentor about getting support.

We know that parents and carers can be juggling challenges daily to get your children to school. If your child must miss school, notify us as soon as possible via Compass OR email or call the office on 8569 9200 so we can work together to support them.

For more information about the importance of everyday attendance, see Attendance and Missing School.

Remember, Every Day Counts.

Child safety and wellbeing at BSC

Beaumaris Secondary College is committed to providing an environment where students are safe and feel safe.

Our child safety framework on the Child Safety & Wellbeing page of our website explains how we support and maintain child safety and wellbeing at Beaumaris Secondary College. It includes our:

  • Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy
  • Child Safety Reporting and Responding Obligations Procedures, and
  • Child Safety Code of Conduct, which outlines acceptable and unacceptable behaviours for all staff and volunteers at our school.

Our students and families are important partners in providing a child safe environment. These regular newsletter reminders are one of the ways we ensure our school community is aware of:

  • our commitment to child safety, and
  • how to provide feedback or raise child safety concerns.

If you have any concerns about child safety at any time, please contact the office. Any child safety complaints or concerns are treated seriously. For more information about our school’s complaints process, see our Complaints Policy

We also welcome your ideas on ways we can improve our approach to child safety and wellbeing. If you have any suggestions or comments, please email beaumaris.sc@education.vic.gov.au.
