Unit 3/4 Business Management

Bake-Off Challenge

The kitchen turned into a high-stakes boardroom this week as our Business Management 3/4 students traded pens for piping bags to tackle the "Bake-Off Challenge." The mission was simple but sharp: navigate the fine line between efficiency and effectiveness. Some teams operated as "efficiency machines," focusing on high-speed output and minimal waste, while others prioritised "effectiveness," obsessing over the quality and "customer" appeal of every single muffin. It was a flour-dusted reality check for many; the most efficient teams realised that speed means little if the product is underbaked, while the perfectionists found that their high-quality results weren't sustainable under tight time constraints.

Ultimately, the activity proved that in business—as in baking—success lies in the sweet spot where streamlined processes meet a top-tier final product.
