Student Leader Reports

Starting high school as a Year 7 has been a big and exciting change for all of us. On our first day, Compass and the internet were running quite slowly, which made finding our classes a bit confusing. Even though it was a little stressful at first, teachers and students helped each other out, and we quickly settled in, got to know our teachers, and learned our way around the school.
Last term included some great activities, such as the Swimming Carnival and Athletics Day, where everyone showed lots of house spirit, participation and teamwork. These events were a great way to meet new people and get involved in school life. This term, Year 7 students have already completed Cross Country, which was a great challenge and gave everyone the chance to push themselves and support their peers.
In GOAL, we wrote letters to our Year 12 selves, thinking about what we hope to achieve by the end of our school journey and what we want our future to look like. As it was International Women's Day, we also talked about equality and what we want that to look like when we're in Year 12. It was an interesting activity that helped us think ahead, and overall, it’s been a positive and memorable start to high school, with plenty more to come.

Will P won the 50m butterfly and was part of the 18-20 men 200m freestyle relay with Will P, Keegan B, Louis S and Oliver H-F.
This is a fantastic result to get 4 gold medals, as well as our 1 silver in the 18-20 women 200m freestyle relay with Eve A, Gemma H, Sophia H and Katie G-P. We had 2 bronze medals, both from Louis S in the 200m and 100m butterfly.
In the state diving, Tilly H achieved and outstanding 4th in state to follow a 2nd in regionals.
Overall, a very successful time for Beaumaris Secondary, with multiple incredible results from our students competing at both regional and state level.

What ANZAC Day means to me...
ANZAC Day to me is about remembering the soldiers who fought for our country and everything they have given up. It's a day to respect their bravery and think about how lucky we are because of them. It also reminds me how important it is to look after each other and not take peace for granted.
William P, a Year 7 student from Ricketts, also shared what ANZAC Day means to him...
To me, ANZAC Day is a day to stop and say thank you to the brave men and women who served our country. It’s about remembering the ANZAC spirit—things like courage and looking after your mates even when times are tough. When I hear the Last Post play, it reminds me how lucky we are to live in a peaceful country because of their sacrifices. Lest we forget.
