END OF TERM GRATITUDE || At the end of last year, our Principal spoke about moving beyond luck and recognising the power of gratitude. Building on this, we asked students and staff one simple question: What are you grateful for?
It has been pleasing to hear reflections on the people who make up our college — our wonderful students, supportive staff and families — as well as friendships, opportunities and a strong sense of belonging within our community.
MONDAY 20 APRIL 2026
TERM 2 READY || Today our staff participated in a valuable professional learning day and are ready to welcome students back tomorrow for another great term ahead.
Staff engaged in sessions led by Education Excellence Australia and our leadership team, drawing on the following quote from renowned education leader Dylan Wiliam:
“If we create a culture where every teacher believes they need to improve, not because they are not good enough but because they can be even better, there is no limit to what we can achieve.”

THEATRE STUDIES EXCURSION || Our Theatre Studies students attended a performance of Mara at Theatre Works today, as part of their Unit 1 study, Analyse theatre. Selected from the VCAA prescribed list, the production provided a valuable opportunity for students to engage with live theatre and deepen their understanding of performance, interpretation and stagecraft.

YEAR 8 INNOVATE || A great session in textiles today, with our Year 8 Innovate students learning new skills.

BE A VET AT MYUNA FARM || Our Year 9 & 10 Be A Vet students enjoyed a great hands-on learning experience at Myuna Farm today, applying their understanding of animal welfare, care and body systems through practical activities.

RICKETTS POINT FIELDWORK || Our Year 9 & 10 Marine Sanctuary students headed to Ricketts Point this week to investigate the intertidal reef and surrounding beaches as part of their Term 2 PBL. Students collected real-world data, recording crab species, completing litter surveys and conducting nurdle counts to better understand human impact on our local environment.
A great opportunity to apply learning beyond the classroom and engage with our local coastal ecosystem.

CELEBRATING OUR STATE SWIMMING CHAMPIONS || A fantastic achievement by our state swimmers yesterday, coming away with a total of 7 medals - 4 gold, 1 silver and 2 Bronze! We are so proud of all of our swimmers for reaching this stage of the competition.

A special congratulations to our Year 12 students, Eve Anderson, Katie Gorvett-Page, Oli Harvey-Fuelling and Will Panozzo, representing the college for the final time in swimming.

REGIONAL & STATE DIVING SUCCESS || Tilly Hilton represented the college at Regional and State Diving competitions this week, achieving an outstanding 2nd overall at the Regional level and 4th overall at State. Well done, Tilly!

ANZAC DAY ASSEMBLY & SUPPORT FOR THE 2026 ANZAC APPEAL || Today, we honoured those who have served our country through a moving ANZAC Day Assembly, culminating in the laying of a wreath. Special recognition to our student leaders, performers and guest speaker, Mr Clarke Martin, for their thoughtful contributions.
Thank you to our Community Liaison Student Leaders, Olivia Marshall and Emma Lamprell, for organising the ANZAC Biscuit Stall, with all proceeds supporting the 2026 ANZAC Appeal. We also acknowledge the many students who baked and donated biscuits, earning House points along the way. Congratulations to Southern House for donating the most biscuits, with special mention to Jess Heron and Sophie Lamprell for contributing an impressive 82 biscuits.
We extend our thanks to all families who purchased ANZAC Day merchandise from the office in support of this important cause.

MOUNTAIN BIKE COMPETITION || On Friday, students from Years 7–10 represented the college at the Dandenong Schools Mountain Bike Competition in Silvan, run by Rocky Trail Academy as part of Academy Victoria 2026.
With challenging trails and plenty of competition, it was a great opportunity for students to test their skills, build endurance and represent the college with pride.

DESIGNING FOR TOMORROW IN THE CITY || Today, our Year 9/10 Designing for Tomorrow students headed into the city to undertake a commercial architecture site analysis and explore some of Melbourne’s most iconic architectural landmarks on foot. A fantastic opportunity to see great design in action and gather inspiration for future projects.

SNAPSHOT IN THE CITY || Our Year 9 and 10 Snapshot students explored the city today, capturing photos at key landmarks and tourist locations to use in their PBL. These images will form part of tourism campaign materials developed back in the classroom.

YEAR 7 & 8 CROSS COUNTRY || Fantastic effort from our Year 8 students yesterday, following a strong showing from our Year 7 students on Friday. We now look ahead to the Kingston Division event on 27 May and wish all qualifying students the very best of luck.
