On Sunday, 27 July many of our ensemble members gave up their day off in order to refine and develop the works they are preparing performance. Term 3 is easily the busiest time of year in music with a number of festival performances leading up to our major presentation for the school community, SPC in Concert.
The day was full of joy and hard work. A great highlight was the barbeque lunch generously cooked by Mr Andrew Jirik – many thanks!
Over the next few weeks, we have a range of great events. On Wednesday, 20 August our “Festival Concert Band”, a combination of Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Concert Band, will be performing at the Victorian School Music Festival. At this event, they will perform and receive feedback from an expert music educator. The performance will be livestreamed and you will be able to watch the band’s section from about 1.30pm.
SPC in Concert is just one week later on Wednesday, 27 August. This is shaping up to be a wonderful event. A wide range of ensembles and soloists will be presenting works that are equally diverse. Please join us from 6pm to 7.30pm in the Auditorium of the Performing Arts Centre for this significant annual event. Tickets are free, but you must book via the button below.
Royal South Street is also an annual part of our performance calendar. Our bands will be representing us at this competition from 3-5 September. Best of luck, gentlemen!
ACCent on Music will see out our term of performance events. Students from Years 7 to 12 have been diligently working as members of combined ACC bands and choirs across Terms 2 and 3. They will proudly represent us at Hamer Hall at 7.30pm on Monday, 15 September. It should be a spectacular night of music in one of Australia’s largest and best concert halls. More than 1000 tickets have been sold, but some are still available.
