As part of their architectural and object design curriculum, Year 9 Visual Communication Design students are required to learn technical drawing, prototype and model making. Thomas Hancock has demonstrated outstanding dedication and skill in Visual Communication Design this semester.
He has excelled in both isometric and perspective drawing tasks, producing a detailed series of bookshelf designs that highlight his strong grasp of form and spatial representation. Taking this work a further, Thomas meticulously constructed a scale model of his preferred design, demonstrating impressive precision, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. His commitment to the design process and high-quality outcomes has set a strong example for his peers. Congratulations, Thomas.
Our Year 8 Art students dived into the world of ceramics, creating mugs inspired by the ocean and its many creatures. Using slab building, carving, and glazing techniques, they crafted designs featuring shells, coral textures, wave patterns, and sea creatures. The results are as vibrant and varied as the marine world itself. The mugs will be on display for the enjoyment of the SPC community in the coming weeks.
This term we are fortunate to have two pre-service teachers, Ben Brophy and Matt Lynch, bringing fresh ideas and energy to our Media, Arts, and Vocational Major (VM) programs.
Ben has been with us for the past four weeks, quickly becoming a familiar part of our classes and lending his skills to a variety of special media projects. He has also been an active contributor to our Media Club, supporting students as they explore film production and other creative ventures.
This week we also welcomed Matt, who is already making a great start in the classroom and has already contributed some valuable ideas in the areas of Media and VM, and has already assisted at an Aladdin production rehearsal! We are lucky to have both Ben and Matt with us for the remainder of the term and look forward to seeing the impact they will continue to make on our programs and students.
