Congratulations to coaches Archer Mohr and Ms Allen whose Year 7 and 8 debating team were successful in their heat of the South Street ACU Debating Cup making it through to the Grand Final to be held on Tuesday, 26 August. Congratulations to Mr Stickland’s Year 9 and 10 team who also won their debate in the heat but unfortunately missed out on making it through to the next stage.
A big thank you to Director of Aladdin Jr Mrs Samantha Bashford-Leger and her wonderful team of Tim Snibson, Karina Dunne and Monique Allen who have made wonderful progress with the outstanding cast of Aladdin Jr over the last four weeks. With students from a range of schools filling out the ensemble, rehearsals have been abuzz with the energy of a new show, and we can’t wait to share it with you in November!
This week the individual Speech & Drama events are taking place, and we wish those competitors below who are yet to compete all the best for their events!

We look forward to the Purton Oratory Competition, St. Patrick’s highly esteemed internal public speaking and debating competition where students from Years 7-12 are invited to compete in events that showcase the art of eloquence and persuasion in public speaking events. This event will be held in the Performing Arts Centre’s Music Ensemble Room this year and adjudicated by Mr Shane Murphy and Ms Jen Casey. With such strong registrations and speech topics, we are very excited to hear from the voices of St Pat’s later this term.
All Performing Arts students and their families are warmly invited to our annual Performing Arts Showcase, previously known as the Performing Arts Dinner, to be held in the PAC Auditorium on the evening of Tuesday, 9 September. Join us for our annual celebration of all the students and staff who make our Music, Drama, Debating and Public Speaking programs thrive. The evening includes the presentation of key awards as well as a range of live performances and supper.
