Hello and welcome back to Term 3. As always, we have plenty of sport on offer for students of all year levels and abilities.
Week 1 saw the commencement of Rowing training with a large group of students putting their name down to get involved. We have two senior basketball teams participating in the strong ACC season this year and another record number of teams competing in the BAS basketball competition. In addition to basketball, we have teams competing in BAS table tennis (all year levels), soccer (junior and senior) and hockey (all year levels combined with Loreto).
Student’s need to listen to the morning messages and regularly check Microsoft teams so they get the most up to date information and can communicate with their coach. Thank you to the following staff that that are assisting with coaching a team this term:

St Pat's hosted the ACC Chess competition in our Performing Arts Centre. The day was a huge success with more than 150 boys from all of the ACC schools competing. Thanks to Andrew Wilson and Lauren Handford for not only managing the team, but for also organising the event. Thanks also to Andrew Jirik for his support and for helping to make the day run as smoothly as possible.
Next Tuesday we will host the BAS Chess competition. There are over 100 students from BAS schools competing – again this will be held in the PAC. Thanks again to Andrew Wilson, Lauren Handford and Andrew Jirik for their organisation of the event.
Also a big thanks to Tanya Drake and Nyarth Wang for catering for staff on both days.
We compete in three events in the BAS competition - Road Relays, Cross Country and Lap of the Lake. We will also compete in the ACC Cross Country event in Week 8. This will be a great challenge for our boys against the might of the Melbourne schools. Students should keep an eye on the Daily Messages for information about upcoming events.
Road Relays
The SPC Cross Country team participated in our first event for the year-the BAS Road Relays. The event saw a change of location this year from Lake Wendouree to Victoria Park.
Our College was successful in winning both the A and B divisions in the Senior and Junior sections. Our Intermediate boys finished 3rd in the A Division and 2nd in the B Division. A very solid set of results. See below for full results.
Cross Country
In glorious conditions, a reduced team of 35 students competed in event two on the BAS Cross Country calendar at Victoria Park this afternoon. Our students ran and jumped over obstacle logs throughout the course, that will host the Australian Cross Country Championships on Saturday, 23 August and for the next three years.
Some great team camaraderie and support was evident from the beginning, as the boys warmed up together in readiness for their race. Some solid racing, fast finishers and overall, a fine team result. We’re very proud of those boys who are new to SPC Cross Country in 2025, in addition to some old, faithful SPC Cross Country servants! Well done to the Junior boys who took home the winning school pennant in the Junior category. Well done boys! Please see below for a full list of all results.
