Brisbane Valley Instrumental Music Beginner Workshop

On Wednesday February 18, Beginner Musicians from Toogoolawah SS, Esk SS and Linville SS journeyed to Toogoolawah SHS and participated in a beginner instrumental workshop.

TSHS students mentored the beginners, ensuring that they could assemble their instrument correctly and that they knew their first two notes.

After that, both groups of students joined together to create the 2026 Brisbane Valley Super Concert Band! Mr Smith workshopped their first song, called Dragon Quest, composed by Mr Smith.

In the afternoon, Mr Reid (Principal at TSHS), Mrs Sabine, the TSHS school captains and some parents were wowed with an impromptu performance of Dragon Quest. Mr Reid was astounded that this was the first time the beginner students had ever played in a Concert Band!

Both Miss Graham and Mr Smith were very impressed with both the beginner students and high school mentors. The huge improvements that were made from the beginning of the workshop to the performance at the end of the day were phenomenal!
