Faith and Religion

"For we are are God's Masterpiece.." (Eph 2:10) is the theme that we will explore together throughout 2026.  Theses words  come from St Paul's letter to the Ephesians in the Bible. They remind us of the inherent dignity and worth that we each have.

Good Shepherd, you know each of us by name.

You created us as your masterpiece, each one unique and beloved. Help us to see ourselves and as you see us— precious, unrepeatable, and filled with infinite dignity.

May we carry the spirit of mercy taught by the Sisters who founded St Mary's. Help us to care for and love each other as you have loved us.

Amen.

Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday Events

Ash Wednesday on the 18th Feb marks the beginning of Lent, a new season in the liturgical calendar of the Church. Lent lasts for 40 days and is a time of preparation for Easter.

On Tuesday 17th Feb Shrove (Pancake) Tuesday our Faith and Social Justice Team will be making pancakes for the whole school. A permission form has been sent out through SIMON to give permission for your child to have pancakes. We will be raising money for Project Compassion. Suggested donation: a gold coin for 3 pancakes.

We will have a whole school event to mark this occasion. We would love you to join us at 9am on Ash Wed in the Grotto next to St Mary's Church for "Burning of Palms" and "Burying the Alleluia." Come and see what it is all about!

As we will not be having a morning Mass for Ash Wednesday all families are very welcome to join the parish Mass at 7pm (Feb 18th) at St Mary's.

Sacraments

This year we will be celebrating the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion (Eucharist). First Reconciliation is for Gr 3 students and First Holy Communion for Gr 4 students. Confirmation takes place ever second year and will be offered again in 2027.

The above sacraments are offered to those children who have been baptised and want to continue in their faith journey.

However if your child is not baptised and is interested in the sacraments, you are welcome to speak with me in person, send me an email or contact the school or parish office.
