International Women’s Day Breakfast

On Wednesday 11 March, we had the opportunity to attend the Maroondah City Council’s International Women’s Day Breakfast. Hosted at Karralyka theatre, we, along with Mrs Harris and Mrs Ford really enjoyed the event. It was a great chance to talk with other likeminded members of the community.

The guest speaker was Leonie Bailey, who is president of Dress for Success Victoria. Leonie was also a past Norwood student, who completed Year 11 and 12 here, back when we were called Norwood High school. Dress for Success offers professional clothing and mentorship programs to women of all backgrounds. Some of the women they help have come from toxic relationships, have been unwell for some time or are mothers looking to work again. Dress for Success helps these women gain confidence back and assists them in finding work, enabling them to become financially independent again.

Dress for Success is an amazing charity that helps women from all over Victoria. They accept gently worn clothing donations at their shop in Frankston. This is a great charity that Norwood would love to support this year.

Thank you to Mrs Harris and Mrs Ford for allowing us to come to be breakfast, we really appreciated the opportunity.
