Grade 1 students are demonstrating their science knowledge and Science inquiry skills in a short test. Grade 3 students are demonstrating their science inquiry skills in an assessment about plant growth. Students will use their understanding of the investigation to answer questions and demonstrate their science inquiry skills. Grade 4 students are learning about food webs, invasive species, and plant life cycles. They are identifying the different stages of the life cycle of a flowering plant and exploring how an invasive species can affect a food web. This week in STEM, our Grade 5 students are learning about particles and how they behave in solids, liquids and gases. Students will explore how particles are arranged and how they move in each state of matter. They will investigate how adding or removing heat changes the arrangement and movement of particles. Students will also practice drawing and labeling particle diagrams to show what happens when substances are heated and cooled. Grade 6 students are learning about electrical circuits. Students will identify the different components of a circuit and learn how each component is represented using an electrical symbol. They will also investigate how to select and connect the correct components to create a complete circuit and explore how electrical energy can be transformed into other forms of energy, such as light, sound, and movement. Have a go at home! You can challenge yourself to build a cardboard house and explore how you could use an electrical circuit to add features such as lights.
