Principal's Report
Dear Parents, Guardians, and friends of Nazareth
As we begin the new season of spring, we are reminded of the signs of new life all around us. Plants begin to bud, the weather changes, and growth is evident throughout our school grounds. In a similar way, our Year 12 students are reminded that they will graduate in just seven (7) weeks. Their schooling journey is drawing to a close, and for the majority of them, it is hoped they feel well prepared for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
This is a time for our students to recognise that they will be tested in many different ways. Firstly, they will be called upon to draw upon all they have learned and demonstrate not only their academic knowledge, but also the values, beliefs, and principles that guide them.
Many of our students will soon leave Nazareth to enter the workforce, take up an apprenticeship, pursue further studies, or pursue other interests. As they embark on these new pathways, it is our hope that they will continue to demonstrate the characteristics, values, and spiritual foundations nurtured through their years at Nazareth. I wish all our Year 12, VCE and Vocational Major students every success in the coming months as they complete their secondary education.
In the coming week, we celebrate Nazareth Day with a Mass and celebration day. I warmly invite parents and carers to join us on Monday 7 September at 10.00am for the Nazareth Day Mass, which will be celebrated by Fr Cameron Smith, a former Nazareth student.
Our celebrations will continue on Thursday 10 September with a whole school assembly, followed by Nazareth Day activities and concluding with our annual Nazareth Day Talent Quest. Parents and carers are also welcome to attend the assembly, which will commence at 9.00am in the Auditorium.
Today was a significant day for our College with the delivery and installation of a new statue honouring the Holy Family of Nazareth. This artwork has been designed and sculpted by one of our staff members, Mr Bart Sanciolo. Bart has created many sculptures and artworks for schools, and this is his second major piece for Nazareth.
The statue will stand outside our new Marian Centre and provide a place for reflection, contemplation, and appreciation of its significance and meaning.
Over the coming weeks, we look forward to taking possession of the new building and preparing for its official opening to students, staff, and families at the beginning of Term 4.
