Year 5 News

Reading
From creation to connection, stories have taken centre stage in Reading! This fortnight, the Year 5 cohort has been exploring creation stories from cultures and communities around the world. Students have been comparing the characters, settings, themes, values, and messages within each story, discovering that even though these stories come from different parts of the world, many share similar values and messages. Ideas such as respect for nature, caring for others, courage, cooperation, and the importance of community are woven throughout many of these stories. To bring their learning to life, students have also performed Readers Theatre, developing their fluency, expression, and confidence while working collaboratively with their peers. It has been wonderful to see the Year 5 cohort recognising the connections between cultures and discovering how stories can help us understand both our differences and the values we share.
