GD Swimming

On the 21st of February, the Monivae 'Dolphins' set out for GD swimming. We kicked off with the long distance events that served as a great start to the day and got everyone warmed up for the shorter events. Monivae was a force to be reckoned with as we powered our way, through the ages, to the top of the standings. Everyone put their best foot forward that day, especially in the relays where those who weren't swimming provided an atmosphere to get our 'dolphins' over the finish line. Overall the day was a special one, the first GD comp of the year and hopefully a great start to another fruitful year for Monivae. 

Monivae ended up winning the Girls an Boys Aggregates as well as the Overall Champions.

GWR Swimming

House Athletics

Another hot day and another full school house event, this time it was the House Athletics. Our students put in a  tremendous effort and showed amazing team spirit, making the day so successful.

With plenty of shade and water bottles constantly refilled, the heat was managable for the day. The real highlight of the day was the sheer effort put in by the students. Every race, jump, and throw saw students pushing their limits, showing incredible determination and sportsmanship. A number of records were broken throughout the day.

A massive thank you to all the students who participated, the staff who made sure everything ran smoothly, and those who cheered with full energy throughout the day. To the kitchen staff and student leadership group who ran the BBQ and supplied Zooper Doopers to keep people cool.  Mrs Mailes and her merry band of helpers ensured we could celebrate Shrove Tuesday with freshly made pancakes as well.

Congratulations to House Leader Finuala Neeson and House Captains Ella Willmot and Zac Elliott for leading their chargers to victory.

GD Athletics

Good luck to the 88 students who have headed to Portland today to compete against the other schools in the Glenelg Division. Our Athletics Captains, Grace Cleaver and Hugh Fitzgerald will lead their team during the day.

Girls Cricket

On Discovery Day, we had a team of keen cricketers to take part in T20 match against College, held at Monivae. In the team we had Mia Spong, Julia Shaw, Eloise Millard, Sian Evans, Alicia Eats, Peyton Payne, Scarlett Jackson, Ella Bester and Myself. 

Monivae won the toss and decided to bowl. A strong batting effort followed from College, who had 3 batsman retire on 30. However our bowlers tried hard, with Mia Spong getting 2 wickets and Julia Shaw and Sophie Walker with 1. After their 20 overs, College finished on 174. 

Next it was Monivae’s turn to bat, with Julia Shaw and Eloise Millard opening. They got us off to an amazing start with Julia hitting a four in the second over. Julia made 6 before it was Sophie’s turn to bat. Eloise and Sophie quickly started a partnership that got Monivae into the 50s and on target, with Eloise making 14 runs and Sophie retiring on 30. 

To close out the innings Mia Spong held up her side with 7 runs not out and Alicia Eats retired on 30, however Monivae came up short, finishing on 115. 

We would all like to thank Campbell and Ms Byron for all of the organisation and help on the day, and a congratulations to College for their performance.
