Principal's Report

Jonathan Rowe

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week we celebrate Harmony Week, a time to embrace diversity, inclusion, and belonging while reinforcing our MSC Core Values of love, positive relationships, and compassion. As our Monivae community continues to grow, welcoming staff, students, and families from many cultures, we take this opportunity to appreciate the richness that diversity brings. Our College theme Connected by spirit, Strengthened by diversity” reminds us that to become stronger together as a community, we must welcome everyone.

The Monivae Presentation Ball is a long-standing tradition that marks the journey of our Year 11 cohort and their transition into adulthood. As a parent of one of the students this Year, I know all too well the time devoted to learning new dance steps and routines, finding the right dress and shoes, and multiple discussions about hair styles. I also experienced the laughter and joy between students and their parents navigating the dance steps during their practice. While some glided effortlessly, others counted every beat with laser focus. For me, irrespective of the quality of our dancing, this was a precious moment with my daughter and one I will not forget.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the many staff involved in supervising, organising, behind the scenes, mending dresses and moving chairs. I would particularly like to thank Pauline Perkins and the hard-working parent group who made the evening possible.

The annual NAPLAN assessments commenced at the College last week for students in Years 7 and 9. These assessments form an important part of the educational journey for students across Australia and provide a snapshot in relation to each student’s progress in key Literacy and Numeracy skills.

St Patrick’s Day was celebrated by our students on Monday and the school was awash with green. Money raised from the day (casual clothes were able to be worn) will go towards supporting Caritas.

Once again, the College will be over subscribed for Year 7 in 2026. Please make sure you prioritise completing an enrolment application, via our website, if you are considering Monivae. This particularly applies to families with siblings at the school. For more information go to the segment in this newsletter - Year 7 2026 Enrolments - Urgent Reminder

As we continue this Lenten season, let us embrace the opportunity to reflect and grow as a community. Thank you for your ongoing partnership in supporting our students on their journey of learning and self-discovery during this very busy term.

An Irish Blessing for St Patrick’s Day:

May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face;

the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Kind regards,

Mr Jonathan Rowe
