The Weekend That Was: Kalamunda Show 2026
Mazenod College and St Brigid’s Primary School staff, together with our Sustainability Student Leaders, proudly hosted the Sustainability Tent at the 2026 Kalamunda Show.
The annual Kalamunda Show is a much-loved community event, bringing together local groups, businesses, families and visitors to celebrate the spirit of the Kalamunda community. Mazenod and St Brigid’s have been involved in the Show for several years, with the support of the City of Kalamunda, one of the event’s key supporters.
This year, the City of Kalamunda generously donated 100 native plants to the Mazenod and St Brigid’s Sustainability Tent. As part of the College’s Containers for Change program, these native plants were offered to visitors in exchange for recycling their 10c drink containers. The initiative was extremely well received, with all plants exchanged by 3:00pm.
Once again, the Sustainability Tent was a great success. Many visitors were eager to learn more about the sustainability initiatives currently running at the College, while also sharing ideas for future environmental projects and community-based sustainability opportunities.
The tent also promoted the City of Kalamunda’s Adopt-a-Patch program, an initiative designed to educate students and families about environmental stewardship within their local natural areas. Through programs such as this, schools can help foster environmentally informed, respectful and active young people who understand the importance of caring for the long-term health of their natural surroundings.
