Bayside Youth Awards 2025 

Bayside’s outstanding young individuals have been recognised for their achievements and contributions to making a difference in our community at the 2025 Bayside Youth Awards ceremony held at Sandringham Yacht Club on May 7th.

 

The biennial awards recognise exceptional individuals aged 10 - 25 for their contributions to the Bayside community across five different categories: Community, Creativity, Sports Leadership, Leadership, and the Julian Gurrieri Memorial Award for Youth Participation.

 

Nominations were received from schools, families, sports clubs, lifesaving clubs, youth services and community groups. This year’s awards received an incredible 93 nominations, recognising 57 remarkable young people whose passion and potential prove that Bayside’s future is bright.

Bayside Youth Awards – Sandringham College Students 👏

Amy Brougham – Nominee – Sports Leadership

Nominated for her support and encouragement of peers to join in on physical activities, she is a key promoter of the health benefits of joining team sports.

Tilda Neylan – Nominee- Julian Guerrieri Memorial Award for Youth Participation

Nominated for her contributions to strategic policy discussions with Bayside City Council as a Bayside Youth Ambassador.

 

Violet Saunders – Nominee – Julian Guerrieri Memorial Award for Youth Participation and Community Award

Violet was nominated in two award categories for her commitment to the Boombox Events Committee and the Golden Endeavour. Not only was she nominated but she coordinated all the young volunteers on the awards night.

 

Will Russell – Nominee – Julian Guerrieri Memorial Award for Youth Participation

Will was not only a nominee for a Bayside Youth Award for his work with Bayside’s Boombox Events Committee, by designing and running events for local young people in Bayside, but he also hosted the event as an MC at the awards night, with 130 guests in attendance including Members of Parliament, Councillors and Mayor of Bayside, Cr Hanna El Mouallem.

 

Will Taylor – Finalist – Community Award

Nominated for his countless fundraising efforts and volunteering for causes he believes in. Will raised $1849 for the Robert Connor Dawes Foundation to support the fight against brain cancer, $500 for Nedd’s Uncomfortable Challenge, $100 for the Speak & Share Foundation. He has volunteered for Connor’s Run, Citizenship Ceremonies with Bayside City Council, the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre Food Drive, and the Salvo’s 2024 Christmas Appeal. He has also participated in Clean Up Australia Day many times, as well as volunteering with the 1st/14th Brighton Sea Scouts, and collecting cans and bottles to help their fundraising efforts. Well done Will on winning the 2025 Community Award!
