Amy Porter Returns to Sandringham College

To be completely honest with you, I was this close to calling my article 'Return of the Jedi', because, frankly, it fits. Amy Porter, our substantive Principal and all-round educational force, will be returning to the helm of Sandringham College on August 4th, two weeks into Term 3.

Over the past year, Amy has been serving as a Principal in Residence with the Academy of Teaching & Learning. In that role, she has trained with some of the biggest names in education - think Jedi Council-level expertise - and returns at a pivotal time for our college.

Amy, already a leader in teaching and learning, brings with her a refined understanding of the science of learning, and a clear vision for its practical application. With recent changes to the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM2.0), Amy’s “inside knowledge” is bound to position Sandringham College as a leader in its implementation. Consider her return not just a reunion, but a strategic advantage in our shared mission.

The Force is strong with this one. Please join us in welcoming Amy back to the College early August.

The School Production 2025

It was no easy decision to postpone the 2025 production of Beauty and the Beast for 2025. It was one taken after all parameters were considered and reconsidered over the course of a week.

This decision was not made lightly. It follows ongoing staffing challenges, combined with early scheduling setbacks that significantly impacted our overall preparation timeline. Together, these factors have made it unfeasible to deliver the level of quality and experience that our students, staff, and community rightfully expect and deserve.

We understand that this news has been a great disappointment to many, particularly our students who have already committed time and enthusiasm to the production. We will be fully reviewing the production in the coming months to make sure that we return in 2026, bigger and better than ever.

Still So Much to Celebrate

Despite the postponement of the Production there has still been so much to enjoy and celebrate at the college in Term 2.

It’s been a vibrant and jam-packed few months across our campuses. Here’s a snapshot of what’s been happening in and around Sandringham College — and there’s a lot to be proud of!
