As we wrap up the first half of the school year, it’s an ideal time to reflect on the rich learning experiences that have taken place across the college. Semester 1 has been marked by growth, resilience, and a strong commitment to learning from our students. Across all year levels, we’ve seen students taking on new challenges, engaging in reflective practice, and developing the skills and habits that lead to academic and personal success.
Throughout the semester, a key focus has been on learning how to learn. In many classrooms, teachers have been supporting students to think metacognitively, to reflect on their progress, set learning goals, and adjust strategies when needed. Students are becoming more confident in taking ownership of their learning journeys, whether by acting on feedback, asking clarifying questions, or working collaboratively with their peers.
Assessment has also played a vital role in informing both teaching and learning. Teachers have used a range of formative and summative assessments to understand where students are at and to plan purposeful next steps. Importantly, students are engaging more deeply with the feedback process, using rubrics, exemplars, and teacher comments to reflect on their progress and identify areas for growth.
While the end of Term 2 marks the conclusion of Semester 1, Semester 2 is already underway. Students began their new subjects and semester-based classes on Monday, 23 June, and it has been incredibly pleasing to see their continued focus and motivation, even after two long and demanding terms. Their willingness to engage in new learning with energy and maturity has been a testament to their commitment, and we are very proud of how they are presenting themselves in the classroom.
In addition to current learning, we have also begun preparations for 2026. Students can now select their subjects for next year, and we encourage families to refer to the timeline below for important dates and deadlines related to subject selection.
As we look forward to the remainder of the year, our focus remains on strengthening student learning through evidence-informed teaching practices, ongoing feedback, and the development of independent learning skills. We are excited to see what our students will achieve in Semester 2 and are confident they will continue to approach their learning with the same dedication and positivity they’ve demonstrated so far.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and we look forward to partnering with you through the next stage of the academic year.
