Exciting Beginnings: 2025 Incoming Year 7 Orientation Day

The 2025 Incoming Year 7 Orientation Day was an incredible success, brimming with energy and enthusiasm as we welcomed the next cohort of students to our school community. This milestone event marked the beginning of their high school journey and provided a glimpse into life at UHS.

Students and their parents were welcomed on campus with a presentation that covered essential school information, including introductions to key school contacts, systems, and resources, ensuring they feel prepared for the often transition into a secondary school ecosystem.

Establishing connection was a key focus of the day, as Year 7 students had the opportunity to meet and form bonds with their future classmates through a range of get to know you activities. Additionally, they were introduced to their Peer Support Buddies, Year 10 student leaders who are dedicated to supporting and guiding them through their first year at UHS.

Throughout the day students had a variety of sessions focused on reducing unknowns about next year. This involved a taste of classroom learning, where incoming Year 7s experienced a sample of our learning process and subjects offered in secondary school.. Students were invited to try out musical instruments and explore various sports options. These sessions highlighted the diverse opportunities available at UHS and allowed students to discover new talents and interests. Collectively, activities not only fostered a sense of belonging but also emphasized our school values of kindness, curiosity, connection, and excellence.

Feedback from the students has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing excitement about the friendships they’ve begun to form and the opportunities awaiting them next year.

We extend our gratitude to the Yr 10 Peer Support Buddies, supervising staff, and volunteers who made this day such a memorable experience.

We can’t wait to officially welcome these bright young individuals into our school community next year on our Welcome Day - Wednesday 29th of January!
