Literacy
This week, we have been revising the digraphs sh, th, ch, ph, wh, ng and tch. The children have been practising reading and writing words and sentences containing these digraphs.
In our First Nations Australia unit, we have continued learning about sacred places, including Uluru. We also explored the colours of the Aboriginal flag and learnt about what each colour represents.

Mathematics
In Mathematics, students have been practising counting to 100, counting both forwards and backwards, and identifying Australian coins. They also enjoyed playing shops with their peers, using their knowledge of money in a fun and engaging way.
We had lots of fun playing ‘shops’ using our money pouches and paper money. There were so many exciting things to buy at the cashier’s desk as we practised using money!
In Applied Mathematics, students have been exploring duration. They have been identifying events that take a short or long amount of time and comparing the duration of two and three events. Students have been learning to describe which events takes longer and which are shorter.
Science
Over the past few weeks in Science, students have been exploring the fascinating world of animals! They have been learning about how animals have different features from humans and how their special features help them survive in their habitats. Students have investigated how features such as fur, feathers, wings, beaks and webbed feet help animals find food, stay safe and live in their environments. They have enjoyed discovering the amazing ways animals are adapted to suit their surroundings!
Wellbeing
In Wellbeing, students have been exploring Topic 7: Activity 3, where they have been learning how to be both strong and gentle at the same time. They have been discussing situations where it is important to show strength while also being kind, caring and gentle towards others.
Next, we will be exploring Topic 8

Reminders
Satchels and Home Reading
Please ensure your child brings their satchel to school each day. To borrow a new coloured decodable book, your child must first return their current book. Once all boxes on the home reading sheet have been completed, please see your classroom teacher to collect a new sheet.
There is a QR code inside your child’s Boomerang Book which allows you to access Little Learners Love Literacy books online for additional reading practice at home. Here is a link to assist with reading: Reading at Home
Here is a link to the Cued articulation we use, however, please note that we are not currently teaching all of the sounds featured in this video.
Library
Please send a named bag with your child on their library day so they can bring a book home to enjoy. Students have received a red material bag from their teacher which would make a great library bag!
Library Times:
Prep A, B, C, D, E on Thursdays
Shoelaces
We have noticed there are many children who come to school with laces. If they can't tie their laces, it is recommended they have velcro shoes. Here is a video to assist with learning to tie laces.
