As we come to the end of the term, our lower primary students have been busy exploring the exciting world of animation and storytelling through ScratchJr. Students have been developing their block coding skills while creating their own interactive animations and stories. Along the way, they have been learning important coding concepts such as sequencing, functions, loops and debugging. It has been wonderful to see students bringing their ideas to life while developing their problem-solving and computational thinking skills.

Some classes in our lower primary area have also had the exciting opportunity to be introduced to our new Edison robots! Students have been completing a range of challenges, learning how to program and control their robots while developing their confidence with robotics. With plans for a potential Edison project commencing in Term 4!

Meanwhile, our upper primary students have been busy completing and commencing their MicroBit wearable technology projects. Using the design process, students have been identifying problems and developing their own technology-based solutions. Some of the creative solutions students have designed include movement reminders, digital watches and step counters. It has been fantastic to see students combining coding, creativity and problem-solving to design solutions for real-world needs. See some photos of completed wearables!

As our students wrap up their MicroBit projects, they will soon be introduced to our Edison robots. This will lead to an exciting first for TPS, as we prepare to host our very first Edison Robot Battle! Students will have the opportunity to put their coding, engineering and problem-solving skills to the test as they take on this new robotics challenge.
