Loving God,

As we celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who trusted you with her whole heart and faithfully said “yes” to your call.  We thank you for Mary’s example of faith, courage and love.  May we, like Mary, listen to your voice, welcome Jesus into our lives and share your love with everyone we meet.  Help us to be people of hope, kindness and compassion.

Give us the strength to care for those in need, to stand up for what is right and to bring peace wherever we go. We ask Mary to pray for our school, our families, our parish and those who need comfort and hope. May we continue to walk in the footsteps of Jesus each day, inspired by Mary’s faithful example.

Feast of the Assumption 

The Feast of the Assumption is a Christian holy day celebrated each year on August 15. It commemorates the belief that Mary, the mother of Jesus was taken up into heaven at the end of her earthly life.

The feast of the Assumption is one of the most important celebrations honoring Mary in the Christian calendar. In many countries, especially those with strong Catholic traditions, August 15 is also a public holiday and is marked with:

Special church services and Masses

Processions carrying statues or icons of Mary

Community festivals and celebrations

Family gatherings and meals

Theologically, the feast is understood by Catholics as a sign of the hope of resurrection and eternal life. Mary's Assumption is seen as a foreshadowing of what Christians believe God intends for all the faithful at the end of time.

Emmaus Parish Inauguration Mass 

We warmly invite all families to join us for the Emmaus Parish Inauguration Mass and Celebration on Friday 14 August at 7:00pm at St Fidelis Church. Following the Mass, everyone is welcome to enjoy a buffet supper in the St Fidelis School Hall. We look forward to coming together as one parish community to celebrate this special occasion.

Choir

A special thank you to our Emmaus Parish Children's  Choir for generously giving your time and sharing your gifts as we celebrate this special occasion. Your willingness to be part of our Parish Inauguration Mass is greatly appreciated and will help make the celebration a joyful and prayerful one.

We look forward to celebrating with you this Friday and thank you for helping us mark the beginning of this new chapter in the life of Emmaus Parish.

School closure day Monday 24 August

On Monday 24 August, the staff of St Fidelis will participate in a day of professional and spiritual learning at the Mary MacKillop Heritage Centre. Throughout the day, staff will explore the life and mission of Saint Mary MacKillop, learning about her deep faith, courage, compassion, and commitment to education and service. We will reflect on the ways in which Mary’s work has enriched our lives and continues to influence Catholic education and the communities we serve today.

This experience will provide an opportunity for prayer, reflection, and renewal as we consider how Mary MacKillop’s example inspires us in our own vocation as educators and members of the St Fidelis community. 

Upcoming School Mass Times:

Throughout the term, students will have regular opportunities to attend Mass as part of their faith journey and spiritual development. These celebrations provide meaningful moments for prayer, reflection, and connection with our school community. The following schedule outlines the allocated times for each class to participate in Mass and other prayer experiences.

We warmly invite parents and carers to join us whenever possible, as your presence helps to enrich these special occasions and strengthens the partnership between home, school, and parish.
