Welcome back to another fun filled week in Grade 2!

As inquirers, we visited the Melbourne Aquarium and enjoyed a two-hour guided tour learning about how aquatic creatures survive in their habitats. We even had the chance to touch a real sea star and different shark eggs! Did you know shark eggs are made from keratin, just like our hair and nails? We also learnt that shark egg cases are sometimes called “mermaids’ purses”!

As writers, we used our excursion to inspire recounts of our trip to the aquarium. Using photographs and maps from the day, we sequenced our experiences, included interesting facts we learnt and identified things we would like to learn more about.

As mathematicians, we have been using our knowledge of multiplication to help us understand division. We have been practising sharing equally and representing our thinking using pictures and number sentences. We even challenged ourselves to split our class into equal groups!

We would like to congratulate 2SH on their fantastic assembly on Friday! We were so proud of the confidence they showed while performing, especially when singing ‘We Are an Offering’. Well done, 2SH!
