Year 5/6 News

In Maths, we have been learning about equivalent fractions. Students used Cuisenaire rods to explore and represent different fractions, helping them see how fractions can have different numerators and denominators while still representing the same value. This hands-on activity helped build students’ understanding of equivalent fractions before applying their knowledge to more challenging fraction problems.

In Religion, our Year 5 students explored the Holy Spirit and its role in the Sacrament of Confirmation. Students created their own drawings and interpretations of the Holy Spirit, using symbols and imagery to represent their understanding of how the Holy Spirit guides, strengthens and inspires us to live as disciples of Christ.

Our students have been putting their persuasive skills to the test in Literacy, with the challenge of convincing us to buy some very ordinary everyday items! From tissues and paper clips to a piece of paper with a bite taken out of it, our salespeople students certainly got creative! They experimented with persuasive techniques, catchy language, strong arguments and plenty of confidence as they tried to convince their classmates that these everyday objects were absolutely essential purchases. Their entertaining and enthusiastic pitches had us laughing, while also showing just how powerful persuasive language can be!
