Foundation News

What a fantastic week we've had in Foundation!
We were incredibly lucky to welcome Ryan from LEGO Masters for our Brickulum Incursion. We kicked off the session with a team challenge to build the tallest tower possible using LEGO. We were amazed to see some towers reach over 100 cm tall! Ryan then combined all of our towers to see if, together, they could be as tall as him and they were!
We then connected our Inquiry learning about animals by creating our very own "Funimals" using LEGO. Our challenge was to combine two different animals, such as a zebra and an elephant or a turtle and a flamingo, to invent a brand-new creature. We had so much fun getting creative while thinking carefully about the features and characteristics of different animals.
In Writing, we have been exploring information texts and using interesting facts to write about different animals. Our focus has been on adding more detail to our writing, and we are so proud of the growth and confidence everyone has shown.
On Friday, we said goodbye to Freddie C as he begins an exciting new adventure with his family in Singapore. We celebrated with a surprise farewell party complete with party pies, sausage rolls, and plenty of dancing! While we will miss Freddie's smile, laughter, and cheeky sense of humour, we know he is going to have an amazing time. We can't wait to hear all about his adventures when he comes back to visit us in a few years.
This week we will be learning about…
- Numeracy- Subtraction
- Reading- revision of letter sounds and digraphs ( ch, v, y, x, wh, th) stretching out words, blending the sounds together and reading tricky words
- Writing- writing Information Reports, recording different sounds we can hear in the words we want to write and using full stops
