Parkdale Science Fair 2025

On Thursday 14th August, Parkdale Secondary College was buzzing with excitement as students, families, and visitors from across the community gathered for our annual Science Fair. With over 120 entries including experiments, written pieces, art, and photography, the event was a showcase of scientific thinking and creative expression.

We were thrilled to welcome guests not only from Parkdale but also from surrounding primary schools, who brought fantastic energy and enthusiasm to the evening. The fair featured a wide range of activities, including a dry ice demonstration, chromatography art, bottle flipping and paper plane competitions, and a scavenger hunt for science trivia hidden in the entries.

A highlight for many students was finding out if they had been awarded a prize for their hard work! While a full list of award recipients will be published in the next school newsletter, we would like to extend special congratulations to:

Kai Colafella (Senior Art & Photography) - Winner of the People’s Choice Award with his models showing the history of the atom.

Kingswood Primary School - Recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Award (for the second year in a row)

We would especially like to thank the students who volunteered to be on the organising committee this year. They have worked tirelessly throughout the year to bring the Science Fair to life. Their dedication, creativity, and leadership were instrumental in making the event such a success. A huge thank you to:

Max Wadeson, Laura Tulloch, Emma Yoon, Kendra Stueckle, Maia Titchener, Jessica Bell, Georgia Leroy, Declan Pitkin, Tenaya Talbot, Luca Ivanov, and Miles Buchanan.

A full list of staff and students who helped make the Science Fair possible will be published in the next newsletter. In the meantime, thank you to everyone who participated, attended, and supported our celebration of science and innovation!
