Assistant Principal Report Senior School/Operations

COMMUNITY

With the days becoming lighter and warmer, there is a positive energy building in our Senior Centre. Year 12 students are preparing for their final week of celebrations, organising tables for Valedictory, completing their final school-based assessments, and beginning the important revision that will set them up for success in the exam period ahead.

Our Year 11 students are also looking ahead to their final year of schooling. Work is already underway on the design of the 2026 Year 12 jumpers, and applications for next year’s student leadership positions will open in the coming weeks.

This week, we reminded both Year 11 and 12 students of the impact that strong relationships with teachers can have on their learning success and sense of belonging within the school. Teachers may push students to submit work on time, attend punctually, and complete homework, but this comes from a genuine commitment to their growth and achievement.

As students move through the senior years, the evolving teacher–student relationship becomes an important part of the transition into adulthood. Many past students maintain strong connections with their Year 12 teachers, continuing to seek guidance and support as they navigate university, careers, and beyond.

VCE Vocational Major

Our VCE Vocational Major students are working hard to finalise their assessments and prepare for end-of-term celebrations. As part of their major PDS assessment, each student is planning and running a community event. These include awareness campaigns, “Future You” free dress days, meet-the-therapy-dog sessions, guess-the-lollies competitions, and a variety of food stalls.

Details about each event will be communicated in the coming weeks. We encourage all students to bring along a couple of gold coins and support their peers in these creative and worthwhile initiatives.

STRIVE & ACHIEVE

Year 12 students should be prepared for their practice exams, scheduled for the first week of the school holidays. These exams provide a valuable opportunity to check progress — identifying which skills and knowledge have been mastered and where further focus is needed in the lead-up to the VCAA exams.

The schedule has been designed to closely mirror the end-of-year exams, with external supervisors, VCAA conditions, and school expectations in place, including wearing full school uniform. This structure ensures students not only consolidate their subject knowledge but also practise the routines and mindset required to perform at their best under exam conditions.

Parents and carers play a crucial role in supporting students through these final weeks of schooling by:

  • Encouraging balance across study, part-time work, fitness, and social commitments.

  • Ensuring healthy routines, including good nutrition and sufficient rest.

  • Monitoring stress levels and promoting breaks, exercise, and downtime as part of effective study habits.

While students are doing the hard work at the desk, their success is strongly supported by the care, encouragement, and guidance provided at home.

UNIFORM

Our uniform makes a positive contribution to the culture of the College through establishing a sense of pride and identity.  It enables cohesion and enhances the profile of the College and its students within the broader community.

This is a reminder that our expectation is that ALL students are in FULL school uniform every day, including their final exams.

In exceptional circumstances parents must provide a note.  Students out of uniform without at note will serve a detention at lunchtime.
