Over the past few weeks, our Year 7 and Year 8 students have been busy learning new skills, stepping outside their comfort zones, and having a lot of fun in the process.
Our Year 7 cohort has been exploring the energy and creativity of Hip Hop dance. With guidance from our PE staff and specialist dance instructors, students have learned the fundamentals of rhythm, timing, and movement. They worked both individually and in groups to develop sequences, finishing the unit with confident performances that showcased teamwork, coordination, and expression. For many, it was a chance to discover a new passion while building confidence in front of their peers.
Meanwhile, our Year 8 students have been participating in a Self Defence program designed to teach practical, real-world skills for personal safety. Students learned about situational awareness, verbal de-escalation techniques, and simple but effective physical defence strategies. The program focused on empowerment, respect, and making safe decisions, with an emphasis on using these skills responsibly.
