International Student Excursion to Moonlit Sanctuary
Reflection from the Language Centre students.
On Thursday the 7th of August the International Students, Ms Palfreyman and Ms Gallagher went to Moonlit Sanctuary. We were excited because we wanted to learn about Australian Animals.
First, we went into the reptile enclosure where we reptiles are kept in warm boxes. The instructor introduces us to ‘Billy’ the Python who was wrapped tightly and safely around her arm, we learnt that snakes are cold blooded and were able to see what snakeskin feels like once it has been shed.
Next, we went to visit the Wombats, we enjoyed learning about their square bottom and their strong but lazy attitude. We listened to our guide explain how they defend their burrows with their hard square behinds.
Then we saw the koalas, we loved the koalas because they are cute, cuddly and soft. We learnt that koalas sleep about 18-20 hours a day. The most interesting part was smelling the koala poo which smelt mostly like leaves!!
After an exciting day learning about Australian animals, we were ready to hop back on the bus and for some of us to have a little snooze. We learnt a lot about the unique behaviours of Australian animals and our favourite part of the day was being able to get so close to them.
