Catholic Schools’ Music Festival 2026
On the wonderfully warm evening of Wednesday 23 September, the entire Year 6 cohort travelled to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre to participate in the 38th Catholic Schools’ Music Festival.
Joining students from schools across South Australia, Loreto’s young performers took to the stage for an ambitious and varied vocal program moving from the exuberant opening energy of The Rhythm of Life, Green Eggs and Ham and Oh No! I’ve Lost My Homework! to the lyrical beauty of Brother Sun, Sister Moon and Go the Distance. The concert reached a rousing finale with a medley celebrating the music of John Farnham, culminating fittingly in You’re the Voice.
Ellie G, Year 6, co-compered the evening alongside a Year 12 student from St Paul’s College, fulfilling the role with confidence, warmth and flair. Loreto was also exceptionally well-represented by Nancy Kg in a captivating solo performance; Festival Strings musicians Ella W, Allyson K and Faith T; and Quintet 1, whose polished vocal performance was a particular highlight of the evening.
Thank you to all involved in this musical journey for Year 6, particularly Year 6 parents, Year 6 class teachers, Ms Annelies Roe and Ms Amanda Smith, Choir Trainer Mr Tom Hamnett and Ms Elicia Baldwin, Music Ensembles and Instrumental Coordinator.

Matilda - The Musical
Rehearsals in the Spotlight
Meanwhile, Matilda rehearsals continue apace, with scenes taking shape, choreography sharpening and songs becoming increasingly difficult to dislodge from our collective consciousness. After a wonderfully busy term of revolting children, the formidable Trunchbull and rather a lot of cake, cast and creatives alike are ready for a well-earned break. We look forward to returning after the holidays rested, refreshed and ready for the exhilarating final act towards opening night.
Cast and Crew Biographies
We are delighted to introduce two foundational members of our student production team for Matilda: Carla G and Camille B. Given what we have seen thus far, we know both Carla and Camille will execute their roles as Assistant Stage Managers with aplomb. Carla is a Year 12 student who has many years of experience performing on stage, primarily as a vocalist and dancer. Camille is a Year 10 student and a talented vocalist who also studies curriculum Drama.
Carla G
In this production, Carla has been working as an assistant to our choreographers Bec Schembri and Nina Richards, recording the process and helping students to refine their work once they have learned steps. She says, ‘I am drawing on my experience from past school musicals to support the cast throughout the rehearsal process. I love sharing what I’ve learned with the girls, carrying over the values theatre has taught me - discipline, teamwork, and creative courage - into every rehearsal. I love watching the girls grow in their roles and the final performance brings me so much joy, knowing how much their skills have developed in the months leading up to show time. You definitely don’t want to miss this!’
Camille B
Camille is thrilled to step into the Assistant Stage Manager role for this year's production of Matilda. Having previously performed in Creepy Cabaret and Mamma Mia! at Loreto, she is excited to witness the world of musical theatre from the magical alternate perspective of backstage. She is most looking forward to making the Year 7s feel welcome, safe and comfortable to perform, passing on the same encouragement and warmth that older students showed her when she first started.
