Learning Across the
Junior School
Term 3 has been a wonderful term of learning, achievement and connection across the Junior School. Our girls have enjoyed many opportunities to perform, compete and celebrate.
Dream Big! delighted audiences, with our Preschool to Year 4 students showcasing their confidence and enthusiasm, while our Year 6 students proudly participated in the Catholic Schools Music Festival on Wednesday evening. Book Week brought colour and creativity to the Gym, and Wellness Week encouraged our girls to focus on mindfulness, balance and wellbeing.
The Junior School Sports Awards this week celebrated the dedication and achievements of our students across a wide range of sports. We also finished the term with some outstanding netball performances. Congratulations to our Year 5 Red team who took out the premiership. Our Year 6 Blue team narrowly missed out by just one goal, while our Year 5 Silver team showed tremendous spirit in the Preliminary Final, despite missing several players who were competing at the Aerobics Nationals. We were particularly proud to see Year 4 students step in to support the team.
Our students have also represented Loreto with great pride interstate, with the Aerobics teams competing at Nationals on the Gold Coast and demonstrating wonderful commitment and dedication.
There have also been some outstanding academic achievements. Our Year 6 Ethics team placed second overall in the Ethics Olympiad, while our Year 5 team received an Honourable Mention. Our Year 5 and 6 Tournament of Minds team also achieved second place overall in South Australia with their radio play Podcast, The Historical Heist. We also congratulate Ellie G, who achieved first place overall in the IPSHA Orators Competition after delivering her speech to a panel of judges and competitors from across Adelaide.
While these achievements are certainly worth celebrating, what stands out most is the wonderful sense of community that surrounds our girls. It is the encouragement, support and celebration our students show one another that makes this community so special.
Thank you to our families for your continued support throughout the term. I hope the holidays provide an opportunity to slow down, enjoy time together and return refreshed for the final term of the year.

IPSHA Orators Competition - Gold Medal!

Congratulations to Ellie G, who achieved an outstanding result in the IPSHA Orators Competition, taking out first place overall! Ellie was an exceptional speaker, presenting her speech with clarity, confidence, expression and a wonderful sense of humour. Her engaging delivery and impressive oratory skills captivated the audience and judges. We are incredibly proud of you, Ellie, and thank you for representing Loreto with such distinction. What an outstanding achievement!
Tournament of Minds – Silver Medal!
Our Year 5 and 6 students are to be congratulated on an outstanding achievement in the South Australian Tournament of Minds Competition, placing second in the state! They wrote their own 20-episode podcast called ‘The Historical Heist’ and performed it to a small audience and a panel of judges.

This is a wonderful recognition of their creativity, teamwork, problem-solving and ability to think outside the box. What an incredible achievement and an exceptional accomplishment! Congratulations to Vera H, Estelle S, Ellie G, Gracie W, Rosha V, Alessia H and Emma X.
Loreto College Ethics Olympiad – Silver Medal & Honourable Mention

Year 5 and 6 students represented Loreto College at the Junior School Ethics Olympiad, competing against 25 schools from across Australia. The Year 6 team achieved an outstanding 2nd place overall and the Year 5 team received an Honourable Mention. Both teams demonstrated exceptional teamwork, ethical thinking and thoughtful reasoning, exploring a range of challenging ethical dilemmas. The girls listened respectfully to one another, built on each other’s ideas and confidently justified their perspectives. We are incredibly proud of the girls’ enthusiasm, commitment and ability to work collaboratively while engaging deeply with complex ideas.
