Prime Minister's Spelling Bee

EHPS will be participating in the Prime Minister's Spelling Bee, run by Kids News (kidsnews.com.au, part of the NCA family), running during August until Friday 21 August.

It is an optional extension activity for students in Years 3 to 6 who would like a Literacy Challenge. It will be run during lunch times by Renée Dare.

The Spelling Bee:

is a school-based, teacher-supervised activity;
is available to all eligible students in Years 3 to 8;
is an online competition only. Entrants answer 30 random spelling words per round;
has three reading levels for Year 3 to 4, Year 5 to 6, and Year 7 to 8; and
participants will be notified by the school about the day and time they will be competing (where possible)

Students who participate must be able to compete as an individual entrant without the assistance of another person. They will listen to the delivery of the Spelling Bee words via audio while wearing headphones and type and submit responses into the Competition website.

The Spelling Bee is an online National Competition. Entrants who have the most accurate spelling in the fastest time will progress to state/territory finals between 9am on 31 August 2026 to 5pm on 4 September 2026, and then national finals from 9am on 9 September 2026 to 5pm on 10 September 2026. There are prizes for state and national champions, and school certificates for all participants that will be presented at assembly at the end of the competition rounds.
