Prep
This term, our theme is Wonderful Wildlife. In this unit we will be learning about different animals. We are focusing on their food, lifestyle and habitats, and discovering the differences between different types of animals. We are looking forward to a Wildlife incursion next Thursday, 13 August, to further explore what we are learning. Students will have the opportunity to get up close to some of Australia’s most fascinating native animals in an engaging, hands-on wildlife demonstration on Thursday 13 August. The session will feature an exciting variety of creatures, including reptiles such as snakes, lizards and even a crocodile; marsupials like sugar gliders and a wombat; amphibians; and a native predatory bird such as an owl or kookaburra.
The incursion will explore a range of topics including animal diets, habitats and adaptations and the threats many species face in the wild. Students will learn about the diversity of animal groups while enjoying an interactive experience where they can touch and in some cases, hold the animals.This captivating session is designed to inspire curiosity, build knowledge and encourage a deeper appreciation of Australia’s unique wildlife.
Perceptual Motor Program (PMP)
The children loved our PMP program last term, and we have five PMP sessions this term. The PMP sessions are every Tuesday at 2:30pm this term in the Stadium gymnasium and commenced in week 2 on 21 July and excluding 28 July (week 3) due to Parent Teacher Discussions. We recommend that the children wear tracksuit pants on Tuesdays to help with ease of movement during PMP.
Parent Volunteers
We require about 8 to 10 parent volunteers to successfully run the program. We’d love to see familiar faces from last term’s program and also welcome some new parent volunteers this term. There is no expectation to help out every week, but if you are available to join us even once or twice throughout the term, the children would be delighted to see you there.
All parent helpers must hold a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and have presented this to the School Office prior to volunteering the first time. You also need to sign a copy of the Child Safety Code of Conduct acknowledgement at the School Office to confirm you understand and will adhere to our Child Safety and volunteer policies, and complete the OH&S induction for volunteers with Gabby. These are mandatory requirements for participation in the program. Sign in and sign out on the Compass Kiosk in Office reception; a Parent Volunteer sticker is provided for PMP volunteers.

Swimming Program
The compulsory swimming program for Prep students is seven consecutive sessions in weeks 9 and 10 from Tuesday 8 September to Wednesday 16 September. Students will attend a 30 minute lesson each day at the Huntingtower Sports and Aquatic Centre (HSAC) Swim School in Mount Waverley.
The event notice will be published on Compass. Please process your consent and payment by the due date.

Parent volunteers from each class are required to assist children get ready to return to school. Speak to your child’s teacher if you have completed the volunteer requirements and are available to assist.
