Attendance and Engagement – Finishing the Year Strong in Term 4

As we officially step into the final term of the 2026 school year, our core priority at Saltwater P–9 College is ensuring every student is beautifully positioned to consolidate their learning and transition confidently into their next year level. The single most powerful factor in achieving this success is maintaining strong, consistent everyday attendance.

Term 4 is a fast-paced and high-stakes period filled with vital curriculum completions, final assessments, and peer transition programs. When students miss even a few days, it can create learning gaps and disrupt their social routines right when they need stability most. We want to work in partnership with our families to finish the year strong.

Core Strategies to Lift Attendance This Term

  • Establish Consistent Morning Routines: Ensure your child is packed and ready the night before to avoid rushed mornings. Remember, primary classrooms open early at 8:20 am to allow a calm start before the 8:30 am sharp instruction bell.

  • Schedule Appointments Outside School Hours: Where possible, please arrange medical, dental, or private therapy consultations during after-school windows or school holidays rather than during active instructional blocks.

  • Address School Anxiety Promptly: If your child is expressing reluctance to attend, experiences sleep issues, or feels anxious about transitions, please communicate this to their classroom teacher immediately so our Wellbeing Team can put early safety nets in place.

  • Avoid Early Holiday Departures: While the end of the year approaches quickly, crucial learning and cohort connections continue right up until the final early dismissal bell at 2:30 pm on the last day of term.

Every day counts, and every morning a student is at their desk is an investment in their confidence, academic stamina, and social success. Thank you to our entire Saltwater community for your ongoing collaboration and dedication to helping our students show up and shine every day this term!
