Principal's Message

SchoolVision - To empower students to shape and  enrich the world around them.

LONG SERVICE LEAVE

I will be on leave from Friday 2/8 to Friday 9/8. My wife, Stephanie is presenting at a conference in Norway and I will be doing all the pick ups and drop offs for school, sport, dancing etc... with my two daughters. Rachael Curtain will be Acting Principal over the next week with the support of our leadership team.

PARENT INFORMATION SESSION

Following our recent school review, we would like to have the opportunity to share our vision for the school as well as our strategic plan with families.

The session will be in Week 8 on Tuesday 3rd of September with an opportunity to attend from 2:15pm-3:15pm or 6pm-7pm. Please note that this will be an identical presentation and the two times are to cater for the availability of parents. There will be more details to come as the date draws closer.

YEAR 3/4 SPELLING APPROACH

This term, our Year 3/4 teachers have commenced using an approach called Spelling Mastery with our Year 3/4 students. This approach utilises cognitive load theory and explicit direct instruction to teach students in a systematic and sequenced way. Based on pre-assessment, students have been split into 6 ability-based groups with the 5 teachers taking a group each and 1 group being shared by Ms Curtain and I.

GIRLS FOOTY TEAM

Congratulations to our girls football team who won the Western Metropolitan Football Carnival (pictured above). They have now progressed to the State Championships later this month. This is an outstanding achievement, highlighted by the girls only conceding 1 point across the entire carnival earlier this week.
