BOOK WEEK CELEBRATIONS
BOOK SWAP
Book swap is back! It was such a success last year. So many happy faces with new books to take home and no money exchanged.
Students can start bringing books in from Monday 29th July.
This year during book week we will again have Book Swap taking place in the fishbowl area before school, starting Tuesday 20th August - Thursday 22nd August from 8.30am - 8.45am.
It is now time to find a children's book in great condition that is no longer cherished in your home and could become someone else's treasure!
Bring the book into your classroom and your child's name will be written on a token ready to choose their own in book week.
1 book = 1 token. You can bring in as many books as you like for tokens.
PLEASE ONLY BRING IN BOOKS IN GOOD CONDITION. TOKENS WILL NOT BE HANDED OUT FOR BOOKS IN POOR CONDITION.
PLEASE ALSO NOTE WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING BOARD BOOKS. WE ENCOURAGE BOOKS TO BE FIT FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL READERS.
BOOK WEEK PARADE
Our annual Book Week Parade will be held on Friday 23rd August at 9.15amin the gym. Students are invited to come to school dressed as a character from a book or based on the theme for this year ‘Reading Is Magic’. Costumes don’t need to be elaborate or expensive and we encourage students and families to get creative with what they already have at home.
Parents are invited to come and watch the parade.
BOOK WEEK COSTUME DONATION
As part of our school sustainability policy we endeavour to be conscious of our environmental impact and reduce this as much as possible. This year we would like to trial a ‘Book Week Costume Donation’ system where families can donate costumes that they no longer use or have grown out of that another child might be able to use.
You can drop off any costumes that you would like to donate to the office and during the week prior to Book Week (from Tuesday 13th August) we will set up a stall at the front of the school (near seedling stall) for parents to take anything that suits.
Unexplained Student Absences
Parents, if there are any unexplained absences on Compass on your child / children’s profile, could you please update to rectify these.
If you are having any issues in doing this, please contact the office either by phone or email barwon.heads.ps@education.vic.edu.au and I can update these for you.
Also, if you have any upcoming absences that you would like to notify us about, please let the office know and we can note these in Compass on your behalf.
Lost Property
We have quite a collection of lost property. If your child is missing uniform items, please come down and have look through lost property to see if anything there belongs to your child / children.
