Year 8 Camp – An Unforgettable Experience

From Wednesday to Friday, I was part of Year 8 Camp 2, and it was an unforgettable few days filled with outdoor activities, teamwork, and great memories.
One of the most exciting activities was surfing. For many of us, it was the first time trying it, and the rain didn’t stop us—it actually made the experience even more memorable. Surfing while a rainbow appeared over the water is something we’ll probably never forget.
Next up was orienteering, a fast-paced scavenger hunt that had us exploring all around camp using maps and clues. Our group worked really well together and ended up winning, which made it even more rewarding.
Crate stacking was a fun team challenge that pushed us to communicate and think strategically. The goal was to stack crates as high as possible while one person climbed the tower—it was harder than it looked, but definitely a highlight.
We also had the chance to go canoeing, which was a relaxing break from the faster-paced activities. It didn’t take long to learn the basics, and once we got into it, paddling around on the water was a great way to enjoy the scenery.
One of the most memorable parts of camp was the hike and overnight campout. We walked along the beach and through some beautiful bushland, even spotting rabbits along the way. That night, we cooked our own food and camped out under the stars—it was a great mix of independence and fun.
The camp meals were also a big positive—plenty of good food to keep us fuelled throughout the trip. In our free time, there were loads of activities like volleyball and Gaga ball that kept the energy up and brought everyone together.
Overall, Camp 2 was a great chance to try new things, build friendships, and enjoy the outdoors. A big thank you to the teachers and camp staff who organised everything and made it such a great experience. It’s a camp I’ll definitely remember.
