Year 8 Camp - great experience

Last week all the Year 8’s went to camp at a lovely place in the Mornington Peninsula. There were a variety of activities, from crate stacking to canoeing to tree climbing. It was three days of us pushing ourselves out of our comfort zone and trying something new.

The highlight of the camp for most people was camping outdoors in a tent. First we took an hour-long, scenic hike by the beach and reached our campground. Then we set up a tent by ourselves in the cold and cooked dinner on a Trangia. We slept in the harsh, cold, sometimes rainy environment and learnt the importance of independence.

There was a cozy dining hall area where we had amazing food, such as pizza, pasta and delicious desert. Everyone participated in a trivia night where we did a quiz and many fun activities such as a limbo competition.

Overall, Year 8 camp was a great experience. There were plenty of fun activities, great food and the whole experience made us appreciate our comfortable lives at home. I would definitely recommend this camp to a friend, but I would not want to camp out again!
