Year 11 Outdoor Camp

Fourteen eager Year 11 Outdoor and Environmental Studies students, along with teachers Mr Tieman, Mr Wischusen, and Miss Kosir, recently returned from an unforgettable Marine Camp along Victoria’s stunning Great Ocean Road at the end of Term 1.
The group explored some of the region’s most iconic natural landmarks and participated in a variety of hands-on outdoor activities that brought their curriculum to life. The camp kicked off with a cultural and environmental walk along the Koorie Cultural Walk at Point Addis, where students deepened their understanding of Indigenous connections to the coastal landscape as well as local flora and fauna.
From there, students took to the waves with a surfing session at Lorne and Stand-Up Paddle Boarding at Anglesea, challenging themselves physically while soaking in the beauty of the ocean and inland waterways. Land-based adventures followed, including a scenic hike to Phantom Falls and a trek through the You Yangs, offering panoramic views and a chance to reflect on their surroundings.
Campers set up base at the peaceful Jamieson Creek campground, nestled under towering trees. The evenings were no less exciting, with midnight beach walks under a sky full of stars and explorations of the local reef ecosystems.
The camp was not just an adventure—it was a meaningful opportunity for students to build resilience, connect with nature and their classmates, and develop a deeper appreciation for Victoria’s marine and coastal environments.
