Stars in the Arena – Celebrating Our Students
Our students recently had the wonderful opportunity to perform in the Primary Schools Festival of Music: Stars on Stage at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.
Alongside more than 1,300 Year 5 and 6 students from across South Australia, 24 of our students proudly took to the stage, showcasing their enthusiasm, confidence and musical talents.
The Primary Schools Festival of Music is a treasured South Australian tradition that brings students together through artistic excellence, cultural diversity and social inclusion. Experiences like these not only create lasting memories but also help students develop confidence, teamwork and resilience. Singing and music participation have also been shown to support learning by strengthening concentration, memory, listening skills and creativity.
This year's concert was a truly unforgettable experience. Audiences were thrilled by energetic guest performances, outstanding musicianship from the orchestra and troupe, and a vibrant repertoire spanning a range of musical genres.
Each year there is a theme and students develop performing arts, English, mathematics, science, history and geography skills. This year our musical theme was about the benefits of the Australian Wattle Seed. Aboriginal culture showed the students that plants can be resilient and that the fire burning, causes the plants to regenerate by themselves. Our native tree has been a source of food for people and animals for many years. Students also learnt about how scientists flew wattle seeds into space and kept them there for a year before returning to see if plants would grow as designed or with abnormalities. Thankfully, the lack of natural air has not impacted the growth of these trees and they are still thriving today!
Our choir students commit to weekly lessons for three terms before performing the ultimate spectacular performance at the Adelaide entertainment Centre. It is a massive undertaking to get the students to the ultimate concert day, with hours of work, practice and rehearsals. Thanks to all the support from all staff and parents!
A special thank you to our teachers and support staff who went above and beyond to make this opportunity possible. Their dedication, encouragement and countless hours of preparation helped our students shine on stage.

A huge thank you must go to Mr Jake Green for his amazing work as our choir teacher this year. Jake has been instrumental in the success of this year's choir. His organisation, patience and dedication to ensure our students were ready and confident for showcase Modbury's talents is a testament to his amazing skills as a teacher. Thank you Jake!
