BSC Mobile Cafe -

Coming Soon!

BSC Mobile Cafe' – Proudly Supported by Rotary Brighton

We are very excited to introduce a wonderful new initiative coming to Brighton Secondary College – the BSC Mobile Cafe' and Social Enterprise Project, made possible through the incredibly generous support of Rotary Brighton.

The project will see BSC establish a fully equipped mobile café, classroom and social enterprise, providing our students with genuine, hands-on opportunities to develop hospitality, enterprise and employability skills in a real-world environment.

The Food Trailer will particularly support students undertaking VCE Vocational Major (VM) and VET Hospitality/Cookery programs, while also creating opportunities for students from across the College to become involved in events, enterprise, leadership and community activities.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Under the supervision of staff, students will have opportunities to develop practical skills in areas such as coffee and food preparation and service, customer service, teamwork, communication, business operations and event management.

Importantly, this won't just be a classroom exercise. Our aim is for the Food Trailer to become a genuine working social enterprise, operating on campus and progressively participating in school functions, community events, markets and festivals.

Revenue generated through the initiative will be reinvested into supporting vocational education, student opportunities and community initiatives – allowing the enterprise to grow and create further opportunities over time.

Taking BSC into the Community

One of the most exciting aspects of the project is its mobility. The Food Trailer will enable our students and staff to take BSC beyond the school gates and participate in events throughout the broader Bayside community.

You may have already noticed that one of our school buses has been co-branded with BSC and Rotary Brighton to pre-promote the project. Once we get things off the ground, the bus will also play a practical role in transporting students to and from community events and activities involving the Food Trailer.

Together, the bus and Food Trailer will provide a highly visible presence for BSC and Rotary Brighton in our community, while creating genuine opportunities for students to develop confidence, independence, leadership and valuable workplace skills.

We Would Love Our Community to Get Involved

As the project develops, there will also be opportunities for parents, carers and members of our wider community to become involved.

We know there is an enormous amount of experience and expertise within the BSC community. We would particularly love to hear from people with experience, expertise or industry connections in hospitality, cafés, catering, food businesses, events and social enterprise who may be interested in sharing their knowledge, providing advice, creating industry connections or volunteering their time to support our students. There will also be opportunities for parent and carer volunteers to support the Food Trailer at selected school and community events as the program grows.

If you have skills, contacts or experience that could contribute to this exciting initiative, we would love to hear from you. Email Danielle Moore - moe@brightonsc.vic.edu.au

A Wonderful Partnership with Rotary Brighton

This ambitious project simply would not have been possible without the generosity, vision and support of Rotary Brighton.

The Food Trailer will be proudly co-branded to recognise this partnership and will become a highly visible symbol of what can be achieved when schools and community organisations work together to create opportunities for young people.

Planning, acquisition and preparation for the trailer have been progressing throughout 2025/2026, and we are looking forward to sharing more as we move towards its arrival, fit-out and launch.

An enormous thank you to Rotary Brighton for helping BSC turn this idea into a reality. We can't wait to see our students behind the counter and the BSC Food Trailer out and about in our community!
