ATTENDANCE MATTERS

At Mount Eliza Secondary College, we know that regular attendance is one of the strongest contributors to student success. Every lesson provides valuable learning opportunities, and even small amounts of missed school can have a significant impact over time.
Did you know that missing just one day per fortnight adds up to approximately 20 days of school each year—the equivalent of four weeks of learning? Over a student's secondary school years, this can amount to more than half a year of missed education. Missing two days per week can result in a year of lost learning by the end of Year 12.
Regular attendance not only supports academic achievement but also helps students build positive relationships, develop resilience, maintain routines and feel connected to their school community.
We understand that there will be times when students are genuinely unwell or require approved absences. However, wherever possible, we encourage families to schedule appointments and holidays outside of school hours and term time, as the expectation is that all work missed while absent is still completed.
If your child is experiencing difficulties attending school, please contact the College so we can work together to provide support. Every day at school is an opportunity to learn, connect and grow—because every day counts.
