In our VM Literacy class, our most recent assessment task was called "Teach for 20."

This assessment required us to teach a class of junior students a skill or run an activity for 20 minutes.

We presented our activity to a junior class and provided a demonstration of the skill we had chosen to teach. We then measured our success by evaluating the students' final product or performance at the end of the lesson.

We began the process by brainstorming ideas for what we could teach. Different groups chose a variety of activities, including origami, team-building games, rope and knot tying, teaching the cup song, basketball and rugby skills, and mental health awareness.

Once we had decided on our topics, we worked together in our groups to create PowerPoint presentations to support our lessons.

Our PowerPoints included an introduction, learning intentions and goals, video examples, instructions, and a reflection activity. These presentations helped guide us through our 20-minute lessons and kept both us and the students on track.

The purpose of this assessment was to apply the skills we have been developing throughout our previous units.

The first stage of the task focused on collaboration, teamwork, communication, planning, and preparation. These skills were essential when working together to design our lesson and organise our resources.

The second stage involved delivering our lesson to the junior students. This required us to use public speaking skills, keep students engaged and focused, explain instructions clearly, and support the class in achieving the intended learning goal.

Overall, this assessment gave us the opportunity to further develop these important skills while applying them in a real classroom setting. It was a valuable experience that helped build our confidence, teamwork, communication, and leadership skills.
