Amelie announced in the Vic Metro Cricket Squad!

This week, Amelie O in Year 11 was named in the 14-player Victoria Metro cricket squad. She will represent Vic Metro in the Under 19 Female Championships to take place in Brisbane in December.

In announcing the squad, Cricket Victoria’s Talent Development Manager, Andy Christie, said the tournament was a great opportunity for young players to test themselves alongside the rest of the country.

“Our players have continued to expand and develop all facets of their game throughout an extensive Emerging Player Program. The level of performance from all players within the Under 19 program has been exceptional. It’s a real credit to the effort they are putting in to continue their development. The National Championships in Brisbane will provide a fantastic opportunity for players to showcase their skills whilst coming together and representing Victoria Metro with great pride.”

Amelie has been picked in the squad as a top-order batter and is also highly regarded as a boundary rider in the field. She plays her club cricket at Melbourne Cricket Club and this season has played every game in the first XI.

Amelie can’t wait to make the most of this opportunity to represent the Vic Metro U19 cricket team.

"I'm really excited and super keen to get into the tournament in Brisbane. We play all NSW, SA, WA, TAS, QLD and ACT. The tournament goes over the course of a week and we play different formats. I’m keen to bring home the gold medal!"

Congratulations, Amelie!
