VCE Theatre Studies

Last Wednesday our first Unit 3/4 Theatre Studies students completed their monologue performance examination at Kingston Town Hall, the first of two VCE exams they complete for this subject. Two days earlier parents, friends and staff gathered at the school to see Jono L, Joel K, Cassie L and Marcela L all perform the monologues. This provided the ideal opportunity to celebrate their efforts and prepare them for the exam itself.

Each student performed a six minute monologue from a selected list followed by a 2 minute 'statement of interpretation' where they justify their acting, directing and design decisions. All four performers showcased their skills in performances that were imaginative, thoughtful and entertaining, and the audience was certainly impressed by the standard of their work, reflective of the time and effort they had put in across the latter half of Term 3 and into Term 4. 

We should all be proud of these students, especially as they carve a path and set a standard for those who will follow in their footsteps. Whatever their results, I am so pleased for them and what they have created.
