Wellbeing Matters

Mental Health Awareness Week

Last week we spread love and support through heartwarming lunchtime activities! On Tuesday, we made origami bookmarks, on Wednesday we sprinkled kindness with free fairy bread, and on Thursday, we stamped out the stigma with Odd Socks Day!

Our students rocked odd and brightly coloured socks to support 'Get Growing' resilience groups in 2024. Our Odd Sock Day fashion parade, backed by the amazing GROW Australia, brought out the quirkiest and most vibrant styles! Prizes were awarded to the craziest sock enthusiasts. A great way to spread positivity and awareness!

Shout-out to our amazing Student Wellbeing Action Group (SWAG) for making this possible!

A big thank you to Roddy and the team at Bakers Delight Southland for their generous donation of bread to make Sprinkle it with Kindness Day so successful!

ODD SOCKS DAY

Year 7 Project Rockit

On Monday 23 October the Year 7 students participated in a Project Rockit workshop to empower students to create a culture that challenges bullying, online and in person. Students were equipped with socially credible strategies to take action and unite together, instead of standing by.

The big idea: “Every single one of us can choose to be part of the solution when it comes to tackling bullying, even in the smallest and simplest ways.”

Teen Mental Health First Aid Training

Yesterday marked the start of a crucial journey with Teen Mental Health First Aid Training for our Year 9 students. Over the next sessions, they'll gain vital skills to support their friends in times of need. Together, we're fostering a community of understanding and compassion.

Let’s Talk About Consent

Is This OK?? is a four-week affirmative consent program delivered through The Cave on Twitch, Man Cave’s official digital aftercare platform.

It is designed to educate teenage boys on respect, healthy relationships, consent and the new affirmative consent model that is now law in Victoria. This program aims to help young people develop an early understanding of affirmative consent and how everyone can and must seek it as they become sexually active.

If you have ever been confused about what consent means… or know a young person who has, come join us on The Cave on Twitch for Is This OK?? Where we talk about consent and answer your questions.

Kicking off on Thursday 2nd November, Is This OK?? will be the place where facilitators from Man Cave, AIME, Minus18 and Elephant Ed talk all about consent, chatting with young people, rather than about them.

There will be game shows, giveaways, live Q&A sessions and much more!

The episodes of Is This OK?? will be streamed live on The Cave on Twitch at 6pm on the following dates:

  • Thursday 2 November
  • Thursday 9 November
  • Thursday 16 November
  • Thursday 23 November

Young people are more aware of, informed of and finely tuned to conversations about sex, sexuality and gender than ever before. They have more questions than ever and many are looking for answers, and they may not feel comfortable broaching this topic with parents or educators.

Led by Man Cave, it will be delivered in collaboration with fellow diverse youth organisations, including AIME (Indigenous youth mentoring), Minus18 (LGBTQIA+ youth empowerment) and Elephant Ed (consent and sex education). It is funded by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing through its Supporting Young People to Understand Affirmative Consent program.
