Book Launch

Bianca Bignoux from 9C has a highly unusual and very exciting event to look forward to these school holidays - the launch of her very first children’s book.

Bianca was inspired to write and illustrate Neddy’s Box of Noodles while watching her younger cousin, who she describes as “obsessed with noodles” and having “a really weird imagination”, play and talk about his favourite food.

It seems as though an active imagination runs in the family, as Bianca’s story and illustrations were so creative and original that not just her cousin loved her book.

“I made the book as his Christmas present and everyone was so excited so we thought we would look into getting it professionally printed.”

Having first self-published Neddy's Box of Noodles, Bianca and her family is now in contact with small, independent company Jaymah, which is primarily an online bookstore that also seeks to support indie authors by offering a low-cost formatting and printing service.

“I’ve always loved writing and drawing but I never thought I’d be a published author,” Bianca says. She is now working on a memoir about her grandfather, writing a young adult novel and planning two more children’s picture books.

Neddy’s Box of Noodles will be launched at the Leopold Library (at the Leopold Community Hub on Kensington Road) on Thursday 30 June at 11am and members of the MFG community are invited to attend.

Copies of Bianca’s book can be purchased directly from jaymahpress.com.au or by calling 0468 878 714.
